In our English lesson this week, we have been learning about persuasive letter writing and have become experts. Also, we have been looking at apostrophes to help our understanding of contraction and possession. Both these skills will help us to create a brilliant persuasive letter to Ben Bradshaw to address the plastic pollution situation. Our school is targeting Ben Bradshaw to send letters to because he is our local MP. We’ve enjoyed looking at clips from documentaries to provide us with our evidence and to learn more about the urgency. Whilst watching clips, we made recorded facts which we will use for our letters. We are really enjoying persuasive letter writing; it’s looking like it’s going to be a really positive English topic. By Theo
This week in maths we’ve been improving our division skills. It is an essential skill and completes our knowledge of the four operations, which will allow us to take on challenging word problems. We have all mastered short division and our next target is to conquer long division! This is a massive step in our learning, and we are all finding it a challenging subject -I’m sure we’ll get there soon! In our SATs next year this will be a very good piece of knowledge because even if we get the answer wrong, we will still get a mark for the calculation. We are loving this topic in Mathematics. As part of our Art assessment, we have been learning to draw lines of perspective and sketch a 3D house (our home). There were lots of different types of houses including: terraced, semi-terraced, bungalows etc. Also, everyone wanted to see the difference between our previous drawings of our houses from when we were in years 2-5. Home-learning In home-learning we have been investigating and making models out of clean recycled rubbish from our bins on the plastic pollution subject. We have also brushed up on our apostrophe skills and we’ve enjoyed making two step word problems in mathematics. In geography we’ve loved researching and comparing countries using Google maps, for example: My friend Freya did an amazing project on Morocco and Norway. By Bella and Ivy
