This week we have had a fantastic time introducing the children to a variety of different nursery rhymes. The children have thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the singing and actions and should have built up a repertoire to entertain you with! These might include; Old MacDonald, Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty, Incy Wincy Spider as well as many more.
This week concluded our ‘bikeability’ in which all three Reception classes had a wonderful time honing their biking skills and learning how to ride safely. We have also been learning about road safely this week – we watched a video about how to keep safe near roads and all about the ‘Green Cross Code’. We then set up our outside role play with bikes and scooters and a ‘roadway’ with a zebra crossing where we had to stop our vehicles to let pedestrians cross safely! The children have really enjoyed this and are now experts at crossing roads with the support of their adult. Perhaps they can share all they have learnt with you.
- Our cooking activity next week will be making apple crumble. We will be using: apples, dairy and soya free margarine, flour and sugar.
- We are collecting recycled materials for our junk modelling station. Due to allergies that we have in school, we would only like containers that have not had any contact with food e.g. tissue boxes and tubes. Please could the items be brought in a bag and labelled, if possible, with the date they are brought in. Thank you J.
Message for Reception parents:
Every Tuesday and Friday your child can change their home reading book. This book will be matched to their current phonic knowledge; therefore, they should be able to read the text using their phonic skills, as well as their knowledge of the tricky words they have learnt to date (i.e. I, the, to, no, go, into, he, she). Please ensure that they read these books as often as possible, to encourage fluency in their reading. If there is any further support or guidance that we can provide regarding home learning, please do not hesitate to ask. We are always happy to help!
