Nick Sharratt stories

This week we have been reading a variety of stories by the author Nick Sharratt. The stories are generally rhyming texts about food; with ‘lift- the- flaps’ to enable choices. The children have had a fabulous time exploring these books, finding them hilarious.

Much description in the stories relate to the use of our senses and different textures. Therefore, this week we have been feeling and exploring: jelly, wet pasta, spaghetti painting, ice, spaghetti hoops, paint and cereals. For the sense of taste, the children have been eating different cereals at our ‘breakfast bar’, made and drunk milkshakes and have eaten jelly.

The children have been so engaged and have enjoyed every minute!

  • We will be continuing the Nick Sharratt theme next week by having a ‘fancy- dress’ shop. Any unwanted fancy dress clothes and props would be gratefully received. Thank you.

  • A reminder to ask for more reclaimed materials such as boxes and tubes. Thank you

Communication in Print

Each week the children will be learning 2 or 3 ‘Communication in Print’ signs related to our theme and story. Your child will see the pictures on the class wall and will practise the action associated with it every day.

This week we have learnt: eat, hungry and milk
