Year 2 have been very busy studying measure this week. They have been out and about, using their choice of non-standard unit, measuring things around the school. We then talked about how appropriate their choices had been – whether it was sensible to try and measure the playground with a ones block! The children really enjoyed this and there was lots of discussion.
We have also had great fun in writing this week, where we watched the trailer for ‘Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2’ and then invented our own Foodimals – a creature created from mixing a food with an animal. There were some imaginative creations, for example, a penguin crossed with pizza – a Pizguin. A panda crossed with ice cream – a Pandacream. A crab crossed with spaghetti and meatballs – a Crabeti. The children then planned and wrote about the habitat that their Foodimal lived in.
Have a fantastic weekend!
