This week has been a fabulous week, we practised our remembrance assembly. On Tuesday, 28 pupils were excited to attend a tag rugby and netball tournament at West Exe High School. With excellent team work and skill, the tag rugby team came 2nd and 5th out of 12 teams. In netball we came 6th. We all enjoyed it very much. Those who remained at school sketched some poppies which we are really proud of.
We have also started scale factor in maths and are ready to learn our new topic of Algebra next week. On Friday, we performed our remembrance assembly to the year 5s. We are looking forward to Monday when we are performing to the parents!
We started ratio and proportion in Maths and have enjoined it very much. We have also started practising for our Remembrance assembly. Propaganda posters have been our focus in art. We also finished our history essays about WW1 and WW2. We have enjoined our World War topics. Next week we are looking forward to performing our Remembrance assembly and completing our information texts.
This week we have had lots of fun planning our essays on, ‘Was WW2 inevitable?’ In English we practised expanded noun phrases and the purpose of writing. In Maths we revisited fractions and percentages incorporated in word problems. Science has been very exciting as we planned an investigation to find out which conditions will cause bread to grow the most mould. We were able to choose our own conditions and some even chose exposure to the toilet seat – we can’t wait to see what will grow!
We also need to congratulate Jessica (6VG) and Matilda (6EB) for competing in the South West Biathlon and the school football team for playing with excellent sportsmanship during two games at St Peters high school.
It has been another outstanding week in year 6. On Wednesday we finished our letters to a loved one. On Thursday we tea-stained our writing and drew some pictures to accompany our work on display. We are really proud of our work.
We have learned lots about the causes of World War Two. We are looking forward to finishing our history booklets next week.
