We have begun our virtual journey to Lapland with children taking part enthusiastically in their travel to school and in our classroom movement sessions. Well done on getting lots of stamps into those passports! This will continue next week so keep going everyone.
Next week, the library will be closing and all library books will need to be returned. Please could you support your child in returning their library books to school.
Keep practising the song words at home. They are sounding fantastic in the rehearsals we have had so far.
This week, the children have been working really hard during our Nativity rehearsals. It has started to get really exciting now that the scenery is going up! Thank you to all of those who have been working hard at home to learn their lines and songs. It is looking brilliant already. A small reminder that costumes are due to come in by Tuesday (3rd) to enable us to run a dress rehearsal. If you are having any difficulty in sourcing things for costumes, then please do speak to your child’s teacher before Tuesday.
We ask please that all children return for the evening performance on Tuesday (10th). This performance can be really magical for the children to be able to share with their wider family. If your child is unable to return for this performance due to prior commitments, then please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible. Each child has an important role to play in the nativity and any absences will have a knock on effect on the performance.
Each child was sent home (on Friday) with a permission slip to film a performance of the nativity for the DVD. Please can we ask that you return these to us as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements if any children can’t feature.
We are approaching the Christmas school fete and Year 1 will be running a teddy tombola. If you have any unwanted teddies that you would be willing to donate, please pass them to any of the staff in Year 1. Thank you in advance!
Check out the photos below of some of our rehearsals. The children have loved getting up on the stage and getting stuck in to the acting and singing.
The Foundation stage children have been busy with their Nativity rehearsals this week. They have been doing a great job at remembering their lines and singing our songs, keep practising at home! Thank you very much for sending in your child’s costumes so promptly.
We have had our final week of ‘bikeability balance’ in Reception. Come rain or shine RSB have been learning how to balance, glide and some have even learnt how to ride a bike without stabilizers! In just four mornings the children’s perseverance and growth in confidence has been incredible!
We would like to say a BIG thank you to all the parents who came to our art and craft workshop. It was very well attended.
The challenge of this session was to make as many props and head-dresses as possible for our Nativity play. Amazingly, the parents and the children not only completed the whole challenge but everything was made within an hour! The fantastic buzz around the room of adults and children chatting and working together was just amazing.
We have been exploring how to make our vocabulary grow and have learnt three new words for ‘play’. These are: performance, show and production.
