Fraction Frenzy.

In maths this week we have been looking at fractions.  We have looked at halves and quarters of shapes and amounts.

In literacy the children have been writing a class set of instructions on how to wash a hairy chimpanzee.  The children have enjoyed drawing great story maps and know the instructions really well now. 

We are getting ready for the year 2 assembly which will be on Friday the 8th of February.  If your child expressed an interest in a speaking part, they will soon be bringing home words to learn.  All of the children will be involved with singing and need to learn some songs.  Below are links to the songs.  If you can support your child with learning the words at home, we would really appreciate it.   Gotta keep reading.   Ugly Ducking

Year 5 find their voice!

In English we have been learning about the global issues surrounding the problem of plastic pollution. We are exploring persuasive language and our aim is to improve our knowledge of writing effective letters; eventually we will write persuasive letters to our local MP, and hope we will make a difference for our futures! Also we enjoyed a great debate, role playing different issues concerning our environment. By Ivy and Bella

In maths we have been looking at multiplication. Mostly, long multiplication. Lots of us had a go, and really enjoyed it. Some of our word problems included new skills, and many of them had more than one stage, which provided a good challenge. We really loved learning this new skill. By Theo

P.E In P.E we have started to do tag-rugby. We are being taught by a premier sport instructor named Mr Mathews. We have only just started but it’s already great fun. Currently, we are playing skill games but we’ll start to play proper matches quite soon. We have also started hand-ball which is a mixture between Basketball and Netball. We are all really good. We will be taking part in a hand-ball competition at West Exe school in February. We will need to get practising! Jack M
